IN THE strangest television pairing since Buffy and Spike, American reality TV has dished up a new duo in the form of Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg.
These two rascals are fronting a cookery show called Martha & Snoop’s Dinner Party and it’s going to be two-horse race at next year’s Emmys between this and Mariah Carey’s reality show, the appropriately titled Mariah’s World.
The brave people at VH1 are behind the venture and company president Chris McCarthy says the network is “thrilled to partner” with “two of pop culture’s biggest icons”.
What do you have to say about that, Taylor and Tom?
Chris continues: “Good parties are filled with fun, food and unexpected guests. Wait ’til you see what happens at Martha and Snoop’s Dinner Party; it will be unforgettable.”
It certainly will – and here’s hoping it’s for all the wrong reasons.
The last time Snoop hung out on his homegirl’s TV show was at Christmas and he got her to rap while she made brownies with green sprinkles.
Snoop endorses marijuana? Who knew?
Martha says their show will “exemplify America’s fascination with food, entertaining and celebrity” as they cook for famous friends.
“Martha & Snoop’s Dinner Party will redesign the traditional food competition shows in a new, different and very funny way.”
Perpetual tracksuit wearer Snoop chipped in with: “My homegirl Martha and I have a special bond that goes back. We’re gonna be cooking, drinking and having a good time with our exclusive friends. Can’t wait for you to see how we roll together!”
Always eager to help, Sleb Safari has been trying a few different portmanteaux on for size. What should we call this new platonic couple? Moop? Smartha? The M-O-Double G?
Martha is a household name who’s also been in the clink and she likes to speak her mind.
She has very publicly criticised Gwyneth Paltrow and Blake Lively for their lifestyle websites, accusing them of wanting to be like her. Minus the prison time, Sleb Safari would guess.
“She just needs to be quiet,” she said of Gwyneth.
“She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”
And when Blake launched her doomed site, Preserve, Martha took aim.
“I mean, it’s stupid, she could be an actress! Why would you want to be me if you could be an actress? I just did a movie yesterday, though I can’t even tell you about it, but I want to be Blake Lively.”
Well, there’s two people who won’t be appearing on Martha & Snoop’s Dinner Party.
GOOD news gin fans, Bert’s Jazz Bar has launched a dedicated gin cocktail menu.

Britney Spears To Appear on Carpool Karaoke
Britney Spears has confirmed she’s going to be hitching a ride with James Corden and partaking in some Carpool Karaoke for The Late Late Show.
For the uninitiated it’s basically James Corden driving around LA (or the grounds of the White House – hello, Michelle Obama) with a celebrity in the front seat, singing along to their own tunes and other people’s hits.
Sleb Safari adores Carpool Karaoke – it’s such a good format that it even manages to make Justin Bieber likeable.
Britney is due to appear on August 25. Fingers crossed for Baby One More Time and Oops! I Did It Again.
